What we actually find in Doncaster
Narrow passages and back-yard condensers
Whole districts of Doncaster — Hexthorpe, Hyde Park, Balby, Bentley, Town Moor, Intake — went up as through-terraces during peak pit employment, and they share a feature that matters to us: a narrow passage between back yards. It decides where a condenser can physically go, how we get equipment to it, and whether a failed unit can be swapped without going through the house. Bessacarr and Cantley are the easier ground, mostly 1960s and 70s semis and detached homes with driveways and side gates. The former colliery villages, from Rossington and Armthorpe out to Conisbrough and Hatfield, mix ex-pit housing with modern estates built on the old sites. In anything pre-1980s we treat suspect materials with caution and don't drill blind.
Shops, racecourse trade and big sheds
Retail runs through the Frenchgate Centre and the Lakeside Village outlet, but the commercial character of the city is warehousing. iPort at Rossington is a strategic rail freight interchange of a few hundred acres beside the M18 and the East Coast Main Line, and the wider borough is full of large single-storey distribution envelopes. Those buildings cool very differently from a shop: big volumes, high solar gain through roof sheeting, and office pods tucked inside a warehouse that overheat while the racking stays cold. Then there's the racecourse trade — hotels, bars and hospitality that go from quiet to full for St Leger week. Anywhere with that kind of peak is better serviced before the season than repaired during it.
Flat land, floodplain and an easy run
Doncaster is one of the easier runs from Bilsthorpe, roughly three quarters of an hour on the A614 and A1(M) or straight up the A638. Once past the Pennine foothills the land flattens onto the Humberhead Levels, much of it barely above sea level and pump-drained, with ground water close to the surface east of the city. Flat also means exposed. There is little shelter from wind driving rain onto a gable, and outdoor units on floodplain properties are better raised on a stand than sat on a slab. We look at mounting height, drain falls and cable entry sealing as standard here.

Good to know before you book a re-gas
Refrigerant work must be done by an F-Gas certified engineer — it's illegal to buy refrigerant or attempt this yourself.
R22 systems (pre-2010) can't legally be recharged — virgin R22 is banned. We'll advise on reclaimed-gas repair, conversion, or replacement.
Lost charge on a fairly new system (2–5 yrs)? It's often an installation defect that may be covered under the installer's workmanship warranty — we'll help you check first.

Our unit sits in the passage between terraces — is there enough airflow for it to work properly? +
Often it's marginal, and it's the single most common cause of poor performance in Doncaster's terrace streets. A condenser in a narrow passage can end up breathing its own hot discharge air, which pushes running pressure up, cuts cooling and makes the system trip on the hottest days — exactly when you need it. On a service we measure clearances, clear whatever has blown in behind the unit, and check the fan is drawing properly. Sometimes the fix is as simple as raising it on a bracket or turning the discharge; sometimes it needs relocating. We confirm the result by temperature split rather than assume it's fine.

A multi-split service is £164 + VAT (£196.80 including VAT), which covers up to 2 indoor units. Each additional indoor unit is £45 + VAT (£54 including VAT). We'll confirm the exact total based on how many indoor units your system has before any work begins.
What's the difference between a single-split and multi-split system? +
A single-split has one indoor unit connected to one outdoor unit. A multi-split connects several indoor units to one outdoor unit, so it cools multiple rooms. Multi-splits take longer to service because every indoor unit is checked and cleaned — which is why they're priced a little higher.
Do you service all makes and models? +
Yes. We are approved service & installation partners for Daikin, Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Samsung, Hisense, Midea and Bosch, and our F-Gas registered engineers also service all other major brands — Panasonic, LG, Toshiba and more — whether or not we installed the system originally.
