What we actually find in Arnold
Knitters' terraces, post-war semis, steep streets
Arnold grew as a framework-knitting town, and the Victorian and Edwardian terraces in the older core and around Daybrook still carry solid brick walls and original sash windows, with no cavity to sleeve through and no tidy route for a condensate line. Redhill and Killisick are mostly post-war semis with cavity walls and side access, which is the straightforward end of the work. Woodthorpe brings larger interwar and detached houses, often with two or three indoor units and a longer pipe run than anyone allowed for. The ground is the real complication: streets rise sharply through Redhill and Warren Hill, so outdoor units sit on retaining walls, in split-level yards or above a flight of steps, and a visit that would take an hour on the flat takes longer here.
Front Street shops and small offices
Trade here is retail and services rather than heavy industry. The brewery closed in 1996 and the colliery in 1991, and the pit site is now Gedling Country Park. What remains is a dense high street: the Front Street parade, the market, supermarkets and a long run of independents, takeaways, salons and small first-floor offices. Salons run hot all day with dryers going and doors opening, and a neglected system in that setting loses capacity quickly. Takeaways sit alongside shops that would rather not smell them, so we check that a condenser is not sat in someone else's extract air. Care homes and professional offices around the town want the opposite of drama: planned maintenance, records kept, and no surprises in a heatwave.
Twenty minutes down the A614
Down the A614 and A60 it is twenty to twenty-five minutes outside rush hour, which makes Arnold one of the easier places for us to reach at short notice. The town is effectively joined to Nottingham, so night-time temperatures stay higher than they do out in the villages and systems get less overnight relief during a hot spell. Height cuts the other way: the ground around Redhill, Warren Hill and Dorket Head is some of the highest in the borough and takes noticeably more wind. Leaf fall from the parks and mature gardens blocks more coils in Arnold than anything else we see.

Refrigerant work must be done by an F-Gas certified engineer — it's illegal to buy refrigerant or attempt this yourself.
R22 systems (pre-2010) can't legally be recharged — virgin R22 is banned. We'll advise on reclaimed-gas repair, conversion, or replacement.

Parking on our street is impossible. Does that stop you attending? +
No, but tell us in advance. We only need to get within a reasonable carry of the property, and around Front Street and the older terraces that often means a short walk with the kit. If the street is permit-only, or there is a rear service road, say so at booking and we will plan for it rather than circling. For shops we can work early or late so a van is not parked outside during trading. What we do need is clear access to both the indoor units and the outdoor unit, because moving stock or garden furniture eats into the appointment.

A multi-split service is £164 + VAT (£196.80 including VAT), which covers up to 2 indoor units. Each additional indoor unit is £45 + VAT (£54 including VAT). We'll confirm the exact total based on how many indoor units your system has before any work begins.
What's the difference between a single-split and multi-split system? +
A single-split has one indoor unit connected to one outdoor unit. A multi-split connects several indoor units to one outdoor unit, so it cools multiple rooms. Multi-splits take longer to service because every indoor unit is checked and cleaned — which is why they're priced a little higher.
Do you service all makes and models? +
Yes. We are approved service & installation partners for Daikin, Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Samsung, Hisense, Midea and Bosch, and our F-Gas registered engineers also service all other major brands — Panasonic, LG, Toshiba and more — whether or not we installed the system originally.
