What we actually find in Maltby
The Model Village and after
The colliery company laid out the Model Village east of the town centre in concentric circles, and more than five hundred houses had gone up there by 1912. That set the pattern for everything after it — Maltby's housing is overwhelmingly twentieth century, with interwar and post-war estates spreading outward and a substantial amount of modern new-build on top. There is very little of the dense pre-1900 terrace that makes servicing awkward in the older Yorkshire towns. Most properties here have cavity walls, a side passage or a driveway, and a garden or a rear wall with room to set a condenser off the brickwork properly. Local shops and the Aven estate

Maltby is under an hour away on decent roads, which makes it easy territory for us and simple to fit around other South Yorkshire work. The town stands on magnesian limestone, with the Maltby Crags buttresses and the wooded Beck valley dropping away below it towards Roche Abbey. Properties on the higher, open edges of the estates catch more wind than the sheltered streets inside the Model Village, and that shows up in how quickly a condenser coil fills with leaf debris and grit. Refrigerant work must be done by an F-Gas certified engineer — it's illegal to buy refrigerant or attempt this yourself.
R22 systems (pre-2010) can't legally be recharged — virgin R22 is banned. We'll advise on reclaimed-gas repair, conversion, or replacement.

Our house is in the Model Village. Is there anything special about servicing there? +
Not from a planning point of view — the Model Village is ordinary residential housing, not a conservation-restricted area as far as routine maintenance goes. The practical points are the layout and the age. Those houses were built in curved terraces and short blocks with shared rear access in places, so we may need to know which entry to use and whether there is off-street parking. Being early twentieth century, wall construction varies, and where a condenser has been fixed to older brickwork the bracket fixings are worth checking as part of the service rather than left until something moves.

What's the difference between a single-split and multi-split system? +
A single-split has one indoor unit connected to one outdoor unit. A multi-split connects several indoor units to one outdoor unit, so it cools multiple rooms. Multi-splits take longer to service because every indoor unit is checked and cleaned — which is why they're priced a little higher.
Do you service all makes and models? +
Yes. We are approved service & installation partners for Daikin, Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Samsung, Hisense, Midea and Bosch, and our F-Gas registered engineers also service all other major brands — Panasonic, LG, Toshiba and more — whether or not we installed the system originally.
