What we actually find in Alfreton
Miners' terraces and colliery-land estates
Much of the older housing here is 19th-century brick put up for colliery families: solid walls, no cavity, and front doors that open straight onto the pavement. Pipework generally has to run through a rear wall into a small yard, which lands the outdoor unit close to a boundary and close to a neighbour's window, so bracket fixings and anti-vibration mounts get checked on every visit. Post-war semis are more forgiving, although older cavity brickwork can be soft where mortar has weathered. On the newer estates built over reclaimed colliery land towards Somercotes and Swanwick, plots are tight and units end up boxed in by close-board fencing or a bin store. Restricted airflow is the fault we find most often on those, with blocked condensate a close second.
Shops, market units and trading estates
The High Street, pedestrianised Institute Lane and the indoor market hall give the town a mix of multiples and independents, most of them in older buildings with high ceilings and deep shop floors. A shop is not a spare bedroom: doors stand open, lighting and refrigeration add heat, and a system that copes in April struggles by July if the filters have not been touched. We come across from Bilsthorpe on the A617 through Mansfield, roughly half an hour, so a morning call can usually be seen the same day. Yes. Plenty of the terraces around the old centre have no side gate, so we come through the house with dust sheets down and work from the yard. It helps to tell us when you book, because it changes what we carry in: a shorter ladder, a smaller vacuum, and coil cleaner rather than anything that needs a hose run through your kitchen. If the unit is mounted high on the rear wall over a shared entry, we will check the brackets and the condensate route as well, since a drip onto a neighbour's path causes more arguments than the faults do.

What's the difference between a single-split and multi-split system? +
A single-split has one indoor unit connected to one outdoor unit. A multi-split connects several indoor units to one outdoor unit, so it cools multiple rooms. Multi-splits take longer to service because every indoor unit is checked and cleaned — which is why they're priced a little higher.
Do you service all makes and models? +
Yes. We are approved service & installation partners for Daikin, Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Samsung, Hisense, Midea and Bosch, and our F-Gas registered engineers also service all other major brands — Panasonic, LG, Toshiba and more — whether or not we installed the system originally.
