Air conditioning servicing in Long Eaton
Trent Lock, where the Trent, the Soar and the Erewash Canal come together, tells you most of what you need to know about Long Eaton: flat, low and close to water. The town's red-brick lace mills now turn out upholstery. We service and maintain air conditioning across all of it.

Approved installer & service partner for

Genuine manufacturer parts · Warranty-safe servicing · Trained to manufacturer specification
A thorough service, not a quick once-over
Every ArcticNord maintenance visit follows a full manufacturer-aligned checklist to keep your system efficient, safe and reliable.
Full system inspection
Indoor and outdoor units checked for wear, corrosion, leaks and damage, with a clear written report on system health.
Deep clean & filters
Filters cleaned or replaced and coils, fans and grilles cleaned to restore airflow, efficiency and hygienic air quality.
Refrigerant leak check
An electronic leak detector is passed over the joints, valves and coils to find refrigerant escaping long before you would notice it. Charge is confirmed by temperature split across the coils — we do not connect gauges to a sealed system as a matter of routine.
Electrical & controls test
Connections, contactors and controls tested for safe operation; thermostat and remote settings checked and calibrated.
Drainage & leak prevention
Condensate drains cleared and tested to prevent water leaks, damp and mould — a common cause of breakdowns.
Service report & advice
You receive a documented report with any recommendations, so you always know the condition of your system.
What we actually find in Long Eaton
Mill terraces on flat ground
Long Eaton grew around the lace trade, so the older housing is Victorian red brick built for mill workers, arranged in terraces on ground that barely changes height. Flat sites are good news for access — no steps, no gradients, straightforward equipment handling — but they come with a catch, because the town sits on the Trent floodplain and there is a formal flood warning area covering it. A ground-mounted condenser standing on a low plinth in a rear garden here is worth raising, and any that have been through standing water need checking properly rather than assumed to be fine. The Town Centre Conservation Area, designated in 1993, covers the historic core with its lace-factory chimneys and ornate stacks, so external plant on those frontages gets more attention. Interwar and post-war housing fills out the rest.
Upholstery workshops and high street units
Long Eaton is a recognised centre of quality upholstery manufacture, and there are dozens of upholstery firms in a small area along with the businesses that supply them with frames and springs. Workshop environments like those are hard on air conditioning: airborne fibre, foam dust and fabric lint find their way into every filter and every condenser coil, and a system on a twelve-month interval will often be well down on capacity by month eight. Some of these units also need showroom areas kept comfortable for customers while the workshop next door runs hot. Alongside that sits the ordinary town-centre trade — shops, cafés, salons and small offices, many in older buildings — plus the industrial and trade units on the town's edges.
Floodplain damp and a short run
We can be in Long Eaton in under an hour from Bilsthorpe. Once there, the thing that shapes the work is water. The town lies on flat floodplain between the Trent, the Soar and the Erewash, with a real flood history behind it, so ground-level plant is more exposed to standing water and river mist than it would be a few miles inland. Damp air keeps condenser casings and mountings wet for longer, which accelerates surface corrosion on brackets and fixings. It is not a dramatic problem, but it is a reason to look at the mounting hardware at every service rather than only at the working parts.

Good to know before you book a re-gas
Refrigerant work must be done by an F-Gas certified engineer — it's illegal to buy refrigerant or attempt this yourself.
R22 systems (pre-2010) can't legally be recharged — virgin R22 is banned. We'll advise on reclaimed-gas repair, conversion, or replacement.
Lost charge on a fairly new system (2–5 yrs)? It's often an installation defect that may be covered under the installer's workmanship warranty — we'll help you check first.
Prices can rise during summer heatwaves and for hard-to-reach outdoor units (upper floors, brackets).
All "+ VAT" prices have VAT added at 20%. Commercial systems, VRV/VRF, refrigeration and chillers are quoted individually — call us for a tailored price.

A neglected system costs more than a serviced one
Clean filters and correct refrigerant levels keep efficiency high — a dirty, undercharged system works harder and costs more to run.
Most failures are predictable. Regular checks catch small faults before they become expensive, mid-heatwave emergencies.
Servicing removes the dust, bacteria and mould that build up in filters and drains, protecting indoor air quality.
Many manufacturer warranties require annual servicing. Commercial systems also carry F-Gas legal obligations we handle for you.

Air conditioning servicing FAQs
Our outdoor unit was under water in a flood. Can it be serviced or is it scrap? +
It depends how deep and for how long, and it is not something to guess at. A condenser that has been submerged may look fine and still have water in the compressor terminal box, corroded control boards or a contaminated fan motor. We will inspect it, check insulation resistance and electrical integrity, and give you a straight answer — repairable, or not worth the money. What we will not do is power it up, declare it working and leave. Given Long Eaton sits inside a designated flood warning area, raising the unit on a taller plinth is usually the sensible fix afterwards.
Do you cover Long Eaton? +
Yes — ArcticNord services air conditioning throughout Long Eaton, Derbyshire and nearby areas including Derby, Chesterfield, Ilkeston, Belper and Swadlincote. Call us and we'll book a visit that suits you.
How often should air conditioning be serviced? +
For most homes and offices, once a year is recommended to maintain efficiency, hygiene and reliability. Systems used heavily, or in dusty or commercial environments, may benefit from twice-yearly attention — which is what our AC Complete plan provides: a full service before summer and a shorter performance check before winter.
What does the £119 service include? +
The £119 + VAT (£142.80 including VAT) single-split visit covers a full inspection of the indoor and outdoor units, filter cleaning or replacement, coil and grille cleaning, an electronic refrigerant leak check, a temperature-split performance check, electrical and control testing, condensate drain clearing, and a written service report with any recommendations.
How is a multi-split system priced? +
A multi-split service is £164 + VAT (£196.80 including VAT), which covers up to 2 indoor units. Each additional indoor unit is £45 + VAT (£54 including VAT). We'll confirm the exact total based on how many indoor units your system has before any work begins.
What's the difference between a single-split and multi-split system? +
A single-split has one indoor unit connected to one outdoor unit. A multi-split connects several indoor units to one outdoor unit, so it cools multiple rooms. Multi-splits take longer to service because every indoor unit is checked and cleaned — which is why they're priced a little higher.
Do you service all makes and models? +
Yes. We are approved service & installation partners for Daikin, Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Samsung, Hisense, Midea and Bosch, and our F-Gas registered engineers also service all other major brands — Panasonic, LG, Toshiba and more — whether or not we installed the system originally.
Can I pay monthly instead of all at once? +
Yes. Our care plans spread the cost from £10.99 + VAT (£13.19 including VAT) a month and include priority booking and discounted repairs, so you never face a single large bill — or forget to book your service.
Do you cover commercial and refrigeration systems? +
Absolutely. ArcticNord maintains commercial air conditioning, VRV/VRF systems, chillers and refrigeration, including F-Gas leak testing and logbook records to keep you legally compliant. Contact us for a tailored maintenance contract.
