Air conditioning servicing in Swadlincote
A bottle kiln at the top of the high street tells you most of what you need to know about Swadlincote — pottery, clay and coal built this town, and the housing it left behind is mostly solid-wall brick. ArcticNord services, maintains and repairs air conditioning across Swadlincote, Church Gresley, Newhall and Woodville.

Approved installer & service partner for

Genuine manufacturer parts · Warranty-safe servicing · Trained to manufacturer specification
A thorough service, not a quick once-over
Every ArcticNord maintenance visit follows a full manufacturer-aligned checklist to keep your system efficient, safe and reliable.
Full system inspection
Indoor and outdoor units checked for wear, corrosion, leaks and damage, with a clear written report on system health.
Deep clean & filters
Filters cleaned or replaced and coils, fans and grilles cleaned to restore airflow, efficiency and hygienic air quality.
Refrigerant leak check
An electronic leak detector is passed over the joints, valves and coils to find refrigerant escaping long before you would notice it. Charge is confirmed by temperature split across the coils — we do not connect gauges to a sealed system as a matter of routine.
Electrical & controls test
Connections, contactors and controls tested for safe operation; thermostat and remote settings checked and calibrated.
Drainage & leak prevention
Condensate drains cleared and tested to prevent water leaks, damp and mould — a common cause of breakdowns.
Service report & advice
You receive a documented report with any recommendations, so you always know the condition of your system.
What we actually find in Swadlincote
Terraces, clay ground and new estates
Through the older core — Church Gresley, Newhall, Woodville — the housing is Victorian and Edwardian brick terrace and colliery-era stock, much of it solid-wall with no cavity. Rear yards are small, party walls are shared, and outdoor units frequently end up on a rear elevation a metre from a neighbour's, which makes noise and airflow a real consideration at every service rather than an afterthought. Ground conditions add another wrinkle: this is country worked for clay and coal, with historic extraction and mining legacy voids in places, so ground-mounted plant and its fixings are worth inspecting properly. On the fringes there is a great deal of modern volume housebuilding, including a large scheme on a remediated former clay pit, where construction is conventional cavity and access is easy.
High street retail and light industry
There are around 150 retail and food outlets between the pedestrianised high street and The Pipeworks, which is a lot of small units for a town this size — independents, cafés, takeaways, salons and barbers, plus the national names in the newer development. Small retail is the bread and butter of commercial servicing: single wall or ceiling cassettes running long hours, filters that go unloved, and condensers squeezed into service yards behind shared bins. The town's older trades — pottery, sanitaryware, clay pipes and mining — have gone, but the industrial estates that followed carry workshops, warehousing and trade counters where cooling is usually about a specific room, a server cupboard or an office block rather than the whole shed.
Through Derby, into the National Forest
Swadlincote is roughly an hour and a quarter from Bilsthorpe, west and south through Derby. It sits on undulating former-coalfield ground inside the National Forest, and the tree planting of the last thirty years is not just scenery — it means leaf litter, seeds and pollen, and condensers near mature planting at Swadlincote Woods and the edge-of-town estates load their coils faster than a bare urban site would. The terrain also means exposure varies street by street: a unit on a west-facing slope takes driving rain that one two streets away in the hollow never sees. Neither is a problem in itself, but both change how often a coil needs cleaning.

Good to know before you book a re-gas
Refrigerant work must be done by an F-Gas certified engineer — it's illegal to buy refrigerant or attempt this yourself.
R22 systems (pre-2010) can't legally be recharged — virgin R22 is banned. We'll advise on reclaimed-gas repair, conversion, or replacement.
Lost charge on a fairly new system (2–5 yrs)? It's often an installation defect that may be covered under the installer's workmanship warranty — we'll help you check first.
Prices can rise during summer heatwaves and for hard-to-reach outdoor units (upper floors, brackets).
All "+ VAT" prices have VAT added at 20%. Commercial systems, VRV/VRF, refrigeration and chillers are quoted individually — call us for a tailored price.

A neglected system costs more than a serviced one
Clean filters and correct refrigerant levels keep efficiency high — a dirty, undercharged system works harder and costs more to run.
Most failures are predictable. Regular checks catch small faults before they become expensive, mid-heatwave emergencies.
Servicing removes the dust, bacteria and mould that build up in filters and drains, protecting indoor air quality.
Many manufacturer warranties require annual servicing. Commercial systems also carry F-Gas legal obligations we handle for you.

Air conditioning servicing FAQs
Our terrace has solid walls and a tiny yard — is there anything different about servicing here? +
The servicing itself is the same; the working conditions are not. On solid-wall terraces at Church Gresley, Newhall or Woodville the outdoor unit is usually on a rear wall in a small yard, close to a boundary and often close to a neighbour's window. That means we pay particular attention to clearance around the coil, mounting-bracket condition on old brickwork, vibration through a solid wall, and where the condensate is actually going. Restricted airflow in a confined yard is a common reason one of these systems underperforms, and it is normally fixable without touching the equipment.
Do you cover Swadlincote? +
Yes — ArcticNord services air conditioning throughout Swadlincote, Derbyshire and nearby areas including Derby, Chesterfield, Ilkeston, Long Eaton and Belper. Call us and we'll book a visit that suits you.
How often should air conditioning be serviced? +
For most homes and offices, once a year is recommended to maintain efficiency, hygiene and reliability. Systems used heavily, or in dusty or commercial environments, may benefit from twice-yearly attention — which is what our AC Complete plan provides: a full service before summer and a shorter performance check before winter.
What does the £119 service include? +
The £119 + VAT (£142.80 including VAT) single-split visit covers a full inspection of the indoor and outdoor units, filter cleaning or replacement, coil and grille cleaning, an electronic refrigerant leak check, a temperature-split performance check, electrical and control testing, condensate drain clearing, and a written service report with any recommendations.
How is a multi-split system priced? +
A multi-split service is £164 + VAT (£196.80 including VAT), which covers up to 2 indoor units. Each additional indoor unit is £45 + VAT (£54 including VAT). We'll confirm the exact total based on how many indoor units your system has before any work begins.
What's the difference between a single-split and multi-split system? +
A single-split has one indoor unit connected to one outdoor unit. A multi-split connects several indoor units to one outdoor unit, so it cools multiple rooms. Multi-splits take longer to service because every indoor unit is checked and cleaned — which is why they're priced a little higher.
Do you service all makes and models? +
Yes. We are approved service & installation partners for Daikin, Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Samsung, Hisense, Midea and Bosch, and our F-Gas registered engineers also service all other major brands — Panasonic, LG, Toshiba and more — whether or not we installed the system originally.
Can I pay monthly instead of all at once? +
Yes. Our care plans spread the cost from £10.99 + VAT (£13.19 including VAT) a month and include priority booking and discounted repairs, so you never face a single large bill — or forget to book your service.
Do you cover commercial and refrigeration systems? +
Absolutely. ArcticNord maintains commercial air conditioning, VRV/VRF systems, chillers and refrigeration, including F-Gas leak testing and logbook records to keep you legally compliant. Contact us for a tailored maintenance contract.
