What we actually find in Lincoln
Uphill limestone, downhill brick
Uphill Lincoln is limestone: solid walls, listed buildings packed tightly together, and a conservation area that covers the Cathedral quarter and city centre. External plant on a visible elevation is heavily restricted there, so where systems exist they are tucked into courtyards, on flat roofs or behind screening — and getting to them can mean carrying equipment up Steep Hill on foot, because vehicle access is limited and the cobbles are not kind. Downhill is a different city. Victorian brick terraces, interwar semis with side access, and a large stock of purpose-built student apartments where the plant is on a shared roof and the managing agent controls the door. Roughly fifty-five metres of climb separates the two, and it affects everything from parking to how long a service takes.
Bailgate independents and Brayford waterfront
Trade in Lincoln follows the same split. Bailgate and Steep Hill are small independent shops, pubs and restaurants in old buildings with thick walls, low ceilings and heritage constraints, where a single split has to carry a whole room. The Brayford waterfront is newer — hotels, bars, chain restaurants and university buildings, with proper plant and proper access, but also with a trading pattern that will not tolerate a system failing on a Friday night. Siemens Energy anchors the industrial end of the city and there is a substantial supporting engineering and office base around it. For commercial customers here, the useful question is not when the last service was but whether there is a schedule at all.
Under an hour, and exposed east
The A46 runs almost directly from us to Lincoln and the trip takes under an hour, which makes it one of the easier cities on our list to reach. What the city gets that the Trent valley does not is wind off the North Sea: with flat, open country between here and the coast, easterlies arrive with very little to slow them down, and the top of the hill takes the worst of it. Condensers on exposed uphill elevations see more driven rain and more wind-blown grit than anything sheltered downhill. Coil cleaning matters more, and so does making sure fan guards and mountings are still secure after a winter of it.

Good to know before you book a re-gas
Refrigerant work must be done by an F-Gas certified engineer — it's illegal to buy refrigerant or attempt this yourself.
R22 systems (pre-2010) can't legally be recharged — virgin R22 is banned. We'll advise on reclaimed-gas repair, conversion, or replacement.

Can you service a unit in a listed building uphill in Lincoln? +
Yes. Listed building consent governs alterations to the fabric — it does not stop routine maintenance of equipment that is already installed. In practice, the constraints uphill are physical rather than legal: narrow streets, restricted vehicle access, courtyards reached through a passage, and units sited where they are least visible rather than where they are easiest to reach. We plan for that. If the work would require any change to the building — a new penetration, a relocated bracket, different screening — we will stop and tell you, because that is a conversation with the City of Lincoln Council before anything else.

How is a multi-split system priced? +
A multi-split service is £164 + VAT (£196.80 including VAT), which covers up to 2 indoor units. Each additional indoor unit is £45 + VAT (£54 including VAT). We'll confirm the exact total based on how many indoor units your system has before any work begins.
What's the difference between a single-split and multi-split system? +
A single-split has one indoor unit connected to one outdoor unit. A multi-split connects several indoor units to one outdoor unit, so it cools multiple rooms. Multi-splits take longer to service because every indoor unit is checked and cleaned — which is why they're priced a little higher.
Do you service all makes and models? +
Yes. We are approved service & installation partners for Daikin, Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Samsung, Hisense, Midea and Bosch, and our F-Gas registered engineers also service all other major brands — Panasonic, LG, Toshiba and more — whether or not we installed the system originally.
