Air conditioning servicing in Derbyshire
Three quite different places share the name Derbyshire. A gritstone upland in the north-west, an old coalfield down the eastern side, and a lowland commuter belt in the south. A system in Glossop and a system in Swadlincote face nothing like the same year. We service all three, and we plan the visits differently.

Approved installer & service partner for

Genuine manufacturer parts · Warranty-safe servicing · Trained to manufacturer specification
A thorough service, not a quick once-over
Every ArcticNord maintenance visit follows a full manufacturer-aligned checklist to keep your system efficient, safe and reliable.
Full system inspection
Indoor and outdoor units checked for wear, corrosion, leaks and damage, with a clear written report on system health.
Deep clean & filters
Filters cleaned or replaced and coils, fans and grilles cleaned to restore airflow, efficiency and hygienic air quality.
Refrigerant leak check
An electronic leak detector is passed over the joints, valves and coils to find refrigerant escaping long before you would notice it. Charge is confirmed by temperature split across the coils — we do not connect gauges to a sealed system as a matter of routine.
Electrical & controls test
Connections, contactors and controls tested for safe operation; thermostat and remote settings checked and calibrated.
Drainage & leak prevention
Condensate drains cleared and tested to prevent water leaks, damp and mould — a common cause of breakdowns.
Service report & advice
You receive a documented report with any recommendations, so you always know the condition of your system.
What we actually find in Derbyshire
Stone cottages, colliery terraces, new estates
Walk north-west and the stock is stone — limestone and gritstone cottages through the Dales and High Peak, plenty of it listed and much of it inside the Peak District National Park, where the position of an outdoor unit is a planning question before it is a technical one. Thick solid walls, small windows, deep sills, awkward pipe routes. The eastern side is different again: Victorian brick terraces and interwar ex-colliery estates through Chesterfield, Bolsover and Amber Valley, usually with rear yards, narrow entries and a shared wall between condensers and a neighbour's bedroom. South Derbyshire and Erewash hold the county's newest housing — cavity-built estates around Swadlincote and Long Eaton where units sit on a flank wall in a fenced garden and the visit is straightforward. Same service, three different site surveys.
Spa hotels, quarries and commuter-belt units
Commercially the split is just as wide. The Peak towns run on visitors — hotels, guest houses, tearooms, gift shops and pubs in Bakewell, Matlock, Ashbourne and Buxton, where the busiest weeks are the ones you cannot afford a breakdown in and where the building is often listed. The eastern towns are more ordinary trade: high-street shops, salons, takeaways, small offices, care homes and light industrial units on estates built over old pit land. Limestone quarrying and lime products around Buxton and Wirksworth remain nationally significant, which brings dust-heavy working environments and control rooms that must stay cool. In the south, warehousing and offices along the Derby and Nottingham corridors. A tearoom in a listed cottage and a switch room on a quarry site want the same thing — the system working on the day it matters — but the visit looks nothing alike.
Journey time, not distance, decides
From Bilsthorpe, south Derbyshire is an easy run and Chesterfield barely more. The north-west corner is the awkward one: Glossop and the High Peak are not far as the crow flies, but the roads climb and wind and the journey takes far longer than the map suggests. Kinder Scout reaches 636m, the highest ground in the East Midlands, and the weather up there behaves accordingly — long heating seasons, driven rain, real snow, and a short window where cooling matters at all. Down in the Trent lowlands around Swadlincote and Long Eaton, summers are warmer and cooling load is genuinely the point. We book Peak work in blocks rather than pretending it is a quick call-out.

Your visit includes:
- Full electronic leak detection
- Existing gas recovered & system re-gassed to spec
- Strength (pressure) test & leak test carried out
- Leak repaired or parts quoted before any work
- F-Gas compliant handling & paperwork
Good to know before you book a re-gas
Refrigerant work must be done by an F-Gas certified engineer — it's illegal to buy refrigerant or attempt this yourself.
R22 systems (pre-2010) can't legally be recharged — virgin R22 is banned. We'll advise on reclaimed-gas repair, conversion, or replacement.
Lost charge on a fairly new system (2–5 yrs)? It's often an installation defect that may be covered under the installer's workmanship warranty — we'll help you check first.
Prices can rise during summer heatwaves and for hard-to-reach outdoor units (upper floors, brackets).
All "+ VAT" prices have VAT added at 20%. Commercial systems, VRV/VRF, refrigeration and chillers are quoted individually — call us for a tailored price.

A neglected system costs more than a serviced one
Clean filters and correct refrigerant levels keep efficiency high — a dirty, undercharged system works harder and costs more to run.
Most failures are predictable. Regular checks catch small faults before they become expensive, mid-heatwave emergencies.
Servicing removes the dust, bacteria and mould that build up in filters and drains, protecting indoor air quality.
Many manufacturer warranties require annual servicing. Commercial systems also carry F-Gas legal obligations we handle for you.

Air conditioning servicing FAQs
Do you actually come out to the High Peak, or only the eastern side of the county? +
Yes, we cover the whole county, but we are honest about how we do it. Buxton, Glossop, Bakewell and the Dales take considerably longer to reach than the mileage implies, so we group work in the north-west into planned days rather than treating it as a same-day emergency patch. If you book a service in advance you will get a proper slot. If you want reliable rapid response in the High Peak specifically, say so when you call and we will tell you plainly what we can commit to.
Do you cover Derbyshire? +
Yes — ArcticNord services air conditioning throughout Derbyshire, including Derby, Chesterfield, Ilkeston, Long Eaton, Swadlincote, Belper and Matlock. Call us and we'll book a visit that suits you.
How often should air conditioning be serviced? +
For most homes and offices, once a year is recommended to maintain efficiency, hygiene and reliability. Systems used heavily, or in dusty or commercial environments, may benefit from twice-yearly attention — which is what our AC Complete plan provides: a full service before summer and a shorter performance check before winter.
What does the £119 service include? +
The £119 + VAT (£142.80 including VAT) single-split visit covers a full inspection of the indoor and outdoor units, filter cleaning or replacement, coil and grille cleaning, an electronic refrigerant leak check, a temperature-split performance check, electrical and control testing, condensate drain clearing, and a written service report with any recommendations.
How is a multi-split system priced? +
A multi-split service is £164 + VAT (£196.80 including VAT), which covers up to 2 indoor units. Each additional indoor unit is £45 + VAT (£54 including VAT). We'll confirm the exact total based on how many indoor units your system has before any work begins.
What's the difference between a single-split and multi-split system? +
A single-split has one indoor unit connected to one outdoor unit. A multi-split connects several indoor units to one outdoor unit, so it cools multiple rooms. Multi-splits take longer to service because every indoor unit is checked and cleaned — which is why they're priced a little higher.
Do you service all makes and models? +
Yes. We are approved service & installation partners for Daikin, Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Samsung, Hisense, Midea and Bosch, and our F-Gas registered engineers also service all other major brands — Panasonic, LG, Toshiba and more — whether or not we installed the system originally.
Can I pay monthly instead of all at once? +
Yes. Our care plans spread the cost from £10.99 + VAT (£13.19 including VAT) a month and include priority booking and discounted repairs, so you never face a single large bill — or forget to book your service.
Do you cover commercial and refrigeration systems? +
Absolutely. ArcticNord maintains commercial air conditioning, VRV/VRF systems, chillers and refrigeration, including F-Gas leak testing and logbook records to keep you legally compliant. Contact us for a tailored maintenance contract.
